Back to school arrangements

We are working hard behind the scenes to get everything in place for our return to full school opening on March 8th. As well as ensuring that our environment is Covid-safe for larger groups, we are planning some special sessions to reintroduce our children to life in school with full classes. This will include some much-needed PSHE and PE, plus some assessments nearer to Easter so that we can plan our catch-up sessions in line with the government funding that schools receive. If your child is likely to need catch-up support, we will be in touch with you personally, after our assessments. We will send more detailed information next week about the start on March 8th, and we hope you are looking forward to it as much as we are.

A beautiful song of hope…

You may have had the opportunity to see Debbie Allenby’s wonderful arrangement of ‘Hope’ from the ‘Virtual Dales Children’s Choir, featuring a number of BAWB pupils. The video, apart from spreading a wonderful message and providing us with much-needed hope, is helping to raise money for ‘YoungMinds’ – a mental health charity for young people. Please visit Debbie’s ‘Just Giving’ page if you can. At the time of writing, she was at 90% of her target amount!

From Debbie on the ‘Just Giving’ website:

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This amazing virtual children’s choir came about during the most recent lockdown. After writing a song about Hope and the future, I knew it would be fabulous to have children’s voices singing the message. In these difficult and times that we have been through, we have all had our own challenges to face, but particularly children and young adults. After gathering a group of enthusiastic volunteers online and running a series of Zoom workshops, the choir all recorded themselves at home and sent their separate videos to me to patch together. They were thrilled with the result and a few tears were shed by proud parents. Please give if you can to the fabulous charity, YoungMinds. The demand on children’s mental health services have already increased massively in the past year and I think it will be very much needed for years to come. Thank you so much. x
