The newly formed B-A-WB PTFA came into effect in January 2020, bringing all our three schools (Bainbridge, Askrigg and West Burton) under one umbrella. Prior to this Askrigg and Bainbridge had a well established joint PTFA and West Burton ran a 50’s Club to raise funds.

We are a strong group of enthusiastic parents, teachers and friends who aim to raise funds to purchase resources and equipment, fund trips and improve the children’s learning environments. Where possible we would look to fund an activity or trip linked to the school curriculum.  We also support school events, such as Christmas productions, by offering refreshments.

The PTFA is run by a committee consisting of a Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer.  The current Committee, appointed in February 2020 are:

  • Petrina Booth, Chair
  • Helen Dinsdale, Vice Chair
  • Samantha Spence,  Treasurer
  • Beth Daley, Secretary
  • Liz Tooley, Vice Secretary

We have a dedicated representative from the B-A-WB teaching staff – currently Rob Stokes.

Examples of the fund raising events that have taken place previously include:

  • Balloon Race
  • Coffee Mornings
  • Curry Nights
  • Running the concession stall at a local auction house (Hoppers).
  • Regular raffles
  • Annual Halloween Disco
  • Treasure Hunts
  • Parties such as Virgin Vie or Pamper and Prosecco evenings
  • Christmas Craft fair

The PTFA have lots of fund raising ideas and hope to implement them throughout the coming year and beyond.

Whilst the main emphasis is on raising funds, there are also non-profit making events where the emphasis is on socialising.

Examples of how PTFA funds have been used to date include:

  • Contribution to cost of outdoor play equipment
  • Contribution to swimming expenses
  • Sports equipment
  • Hymn books
  • Book bags
  • Trip to the pantomime
  • Theatre trip to see Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat
  • Funded the Year 6 Leaver’s trip

You are very welcome to come along to the meetings, meet people, and get involved in supporting your child’s school.  You can be as involved as much or as little as you wish – any help and support is much appreciated.
