ODD SOCK DAY FOR ANTI-BULLYING WEEK

As with the rest of the school, Robins have been thinking extra hard about being kind to others and how we are all different and that is something that should be celebrated. The children all wore odd socks for the day on Monday to help us think about this.

DIWALI

We have started talking about the Hindu festival of Diwali. The children have listened to the story of Rama and Sita, providing the children with knowledge of why and how Diwali is celebrated. They have enjoyed re-enacting the story using puppets and dressing up in some traditional Indian Saris. The children know that Diwali is also known as ‘The Festival of Light’ and so have been shown how to make their own Diva Lamps to hold candles in our playdough area. They have also been busy creating their own Rangoli patterns using brightly coloured jewels and have loved carefully painting some rangoli pattern outlines.

MATHS- POSITIONAL LANGUAGE AND DIRECTIONS

The children have been involved in lots of position and direction activities. They loved taking part in our outdoor maths activity where they were asked to make an obstacle course, to direct their friends across, using language such as, under, over, on top of, next to etc. They have also been very busy hiding the Compare Bears in different places around our classroom. It has been funny discovering where they are hiding, and again, the children were encouraged to describe the position of the bears when they were found.

FOREST SCHOOLS

Lots of fun has been had in Forest Schools this week, with making clay faces to stick to tree trunks and making kite.

CHILDREN IN NEED

At the time of writing, the children have all been thinking about Children in Need and some reasons why children may benefit from donations from this charity. They are looking forward to decorating Pudsey biscuits and wearing clothes all in one colour!
