Making bread
This week the children have been busy making bread rolls. This follows on nicely from our story ‘The Little Red Hen’ and leads us onto discussing the importance of celebrating Harvest. The children have remembered what the main ingredients to making bread are and really enjoyed kneading their dough. The children agreed that the finished buns were “delicious” and that “they smelt so good” when they were baking in the oven.
Autumn walk
We had another lovely Autumn walk this Monday- the children all enjoyed gathering up bunches of leaves that they found on their walk!
Maths-making repeating patterns
Maths has been all about making patterns this week. We have been busy making patterns with different counting resources, as well as making repeating patterns with natural materials found outside. The children all really enjoyed playing ‘spot the mistake’, where they were asked to find the mistake in a repeating pattern. The reception children enjoyed the challenge of making a repeating pattern with a mistake, that their friends had to try and spot.
‘Wear a woolly Wednesday’
On Wed 20th October it is ‘wear a woolly Wednesday’. We encourage all children to come to school wearing a woolly jumper, instead of their usual school cardigan or jumper. They may bring gloves, scarves and hats too, to keep themselves feeling toasty. We are doing this to raise awareness as a school on saving energy bills.
Our Eco Warriors at Bainbridge have been busy designing posters to remind us all!
