Eggstraordinary Egg Designs….

We were blown away by the standard of the eggs sent to school for our Easter egg decorating competition. Our judging governors (Laura Alderson at Bainbridge, Mally Dolphin at Askrigg, and Sue Ryding at West Burton) had an eggstremely difficult job trying to choose a winner! Judges were looking for wow factor, as well as humour / creativity, and evidence that children hadn’t had too much help from parents!

The winners, all of whom received a rosette courtesy of our fabulous PTFA, are:

Ruby D (nursery)
Dotty
Douglas D (Y3)
Eggcraft
Inese (adults)
Exotic Bird
Caleb T (Y4)
Hogwarts Eggspress
Aimee Teasdale (Y1)
Under the Sea
Martha K (Y5)
Thinking Outside the Eggbox
Max D (YR)
Alien Invasion
Aidan P (Y2)
The King

No entries from Y6. Have they grown out of this eggciting activity?

Thank you also to the generous PTFA who gave each child a chocolate egg too – we are really grateful and lucky to have such a great PTFA!

Well done to all of our pupils from reception to Y6 who performed and delivered sections of the Easter story to tell it in its completeness. It was a lovely service with lots of thoughtfulness, energy and talent, including some amazing art work. Thank you to all the children and also to our many families who came to support.

Easter-Holiday-Club

Robins

The Robins have been making Palm leaves to practise acting out ‘The Triumphal Entry’ of Jesus as he rode through Jerusalem on Palm Sunday!

Owls

The Owls have been getting their boogie on to our Easter songs!

Swallows

The Swallows put their practised skills in templates and joining techniques to good use, making glove puppets and then evaluating their friends and their own puppets in DT this week! In an afternoon of PSHE and Science, the Swallows learnt about the importance of food hygiene in science and then put their new learning in to practice in a PSHE lesson focusing on the importance of healthy eating. Mr Scrafton and Mrs Harrison enjoyed “cleaning up” after the children had gone home!

Kingfishers

A group of kingfishers attended an archery cluster schools event at West Burton on Thursday. The children’s behaviour was impeccable and we were particularly impressed by their developing skills over the course of the morning, improving their techniques. Well done to Jake for winning a medal for the highest score for our team! In DT, the children have now completed and evaluated their torches, some fantastic designs with great attention to detail. The Kingfishers rounded off their PE unit with a fun game of dodgeball!

Golden Eagles

The Golden Eagles have been making their very own healthy toastie in D&T. They had some very interesting ideas – sausage, salmon, strawberry, cheese and spam was a personal favourite!!

Merlins

The Merlins made a fantastic card for Dave the bus driver (Beefy) who begins his retirement. He has suggested he will be helping out so I’m sure we will see him again shortly! A snap of the Year 6 boys relaxing and sharing books. Lots of progress has been made by the whole Merlins class in relation to our rewarding reading this term. Keep up the good work over Easter!! The week was rounded off with practising for the Easter Service, look at the wonderful artwork that has been produced – we are very proud.
