PTFA – Thank yous, Christmas activities and little blue tokens!

Published by Phoebe Martin on

This is always a busy time for the PTFA so it’s time for a round-up of what we’ve been doing, raising and spending!

Christmas Fair – this was a great success! Thank you to everyone who ran a stall, donated mince pies, chocolates, uniform, jumpers, or their time to help out or to come and enjoy the day. The stalls were beautiful, the event was well-attended and we raised around £1,000 for PTFA funds. And a special mention for the pupils who suggested that the remains of the chocolate tombola be packed up and given to the food bank.

School shops – big thank you to Liz Tooley for organising this year’s Christmas shops – happening on Monday (West Burton and Askrigg) and Wednesday (Bainbridge). These shops give children the chance to pick out a small gift for an adult family member or friend. Gifts are priced between £1 and £2.50.

Nativity refreshments – thank you to the team for putting on refreshments after both performances. Your generous donations of around £200 will be split equally between the church and the PTFA.

So, what are we spending our money on? In our last meeting, the PTFA agreed to fund both the tickets and transport for all pupils to go to see Pinocchio at the Georgian Theatre in Richmond, as well as the annual Christmas gift of a book for each child, and also items to create a comfortable reading space in the Kingfishers’ classroom.

And some really good news… From mid-January until the end of March, BAWB PTFA will be one of the charities shoppers at Tesco in Catterick Garrison can support with the little blue tokens. So please encourage everyone you know to get hold of the tokens and pop them in our box! Depending on how many we collect, we’ll receive £500, £1,000 or £1,500.

And don’t forget – if you’re doing Christmas shopping online, you can support the PTFA by setting up Easy Fundraising or Amazon Smile with ‘BAWB PTFA’ as your chosen charity.
