Power out at West Burton

Today (Tuesday) we lost all power at West Burton during lunchtime. By 1pm we had been informed by the National Grid that they were attempting to restore power but that it may not be on until much later, and not before 2pm.

Without lighting and heating school was extremely dark and cold, so for health and safety reasons, we decided to close the school. Thank you to all parents who made arrangements *very* quickly to collect their children and also those who helped by collecting the children of family and friends.

Of course the power did return mid-afternoon but we have already made the decision to close and had already experienced some flickering: we didn’t feel we could rely on it staying on all afternoon.

If you were one of the families that did not receive the text message from us, please accept our apologies. We are working on our texting software to work out why.
