Homework – we are listening!

Teachers have been feeding back to me from parents’ evenings this week and there seems to be a common worry around homework. Although acknowledging the convenience and development of independence brought about by online homework, shared issues include:

• multiple-choice, game-based design of Sumdog promotes ‘guessing’ rather than working out
• less parental insight as to their child’s working level and ‘gaps’ due to online independent access
• missed opportunity to develop muscle memory due to not ‘writing’ spellings

We have listened to you, and we agree. Our homework policy is now under review and we will be in touch after half-term with updates.
