Welcome back updates

Published by Webmaster on

Welcome back to school and to the autumn term! We all hope that you have enjoyed a wonderful, restful break, and that your children are raring to go for the new school year. Here are some key updates:

Welcome…

…to all of our new starters this term, plus new or returning members of staff. The BAWB Federation is a great place to be!

Timetables

These are now available for every class. Please navigate to your child’s class via the ‘curriculum’ tab along the top of this website, then ‘classes’.

Forest Schools

This will take place for Y2 children upwards on Friday afternoons with Mr Stokes on a three-weekly rota basis, starting with the children taught at West Burton this week (Swallows and Skylarks). Next week Golden Eagles, followed by Merlins the week after. The events calendar on the ‘News and Communication’ page of the website will be updated weekly to remind you.

Please see Robins’ and Owls’ class timetables for details about their Forest School sessions with Mrs Wheeler.

PE and Forest Schools Kit

Please make sure that your child has an appropriate PE kit in school at all times, ready to change into for PE. Forest School clothing can be brought in on the appropriate days as it will be more weather-dependent.

NB Children are asked to come to school in normal school uniform every day, *not* PE / Forest School kits.

Mrs Johnston

We are sorry to report that Mrs Johnston will be absent for a number of weeks. We are sure you all join us in wishing her well. We are really pleased that Mrs Cromey-Hawke will be teaching in Robins class on Mondays and Tuesdays, and Mrs Middleton on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.

HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training)

This will take place on a daily basis for children in Y2 upwards. HIIT is a recommended form of PE which meets the requirements of the PE National Curriculum and we hope will help to improve and maintain our children’s health and fitness. They will be required to change into trainers for this (which should be a part of the normal PE kit kept in school anyway).

School Start Times

Pupils are welcome to arrive from 08:30 and should be onsite by 08:45.

Nursery pupils (Bainbridge) may arrive from 08:45, though we appreciate the siblings of school-age children may be here earlier.

Access to School

We politely request your ongoing support to help prevent the spread of Covid-19. Where possible, please avoid coming into classrooms at the start/end of the school day. Appointments to meet with teachers can be made via the school office, though teachers may also be caught at the gate at the beginning or end of the school day. We will also respond to phone and email messages as normal.

Drop-off and Collection

Bainbridge – please can parents come *inside* the blue gates at the beginning and end of the day so that we can receive and dismiss children safely from inside the perimeter fencing. Due to the movement of buses, parents are requested *not* to park on Back Syke Lane or the car park beside the school gates (unless due to medical reasons).

Askrigg – please use same drop-off and collection gate as we have been doing throughout the last few months. You will no longer be required to queue in the morning (children can come in as soon as the gate is unlocked). Parents may come onto the playground at the end of the day, using this same gate.

West Burton – children will gather on the front playground with Miss Collins before entering the building together at the start of the day.

Celebration Assembly…

…will be making a comeback next week! Please watch this space for updates.

No more paper newsletter

This news page, plus each class’s page, will replace our paper newsletter from now on. You are encouraged to check it regularly, though we will send reminders periodically as we settle into a new routine. As ever, we very much welcome your feedback.
