Rising Covid Cases

Published by Webmaster on

We are working with Public Health England in response to a number of confirmed positive cases at Askrigg school. We know that you may find this concerning but we are continuing to monitor the situation and are working closely with Public Health England. Please click the button at the bottom of this post to read a letter detailing official guidance and note the following local measures that we have put in place:

  • There will be no celebration assemblies at any of our schools this week
  • There will be no sports club or cycling club at Askrigg this week
  • The cross country trip to Richmond on Thursday has been cancelled
  • Staff at Askrigg are encouraged to carry out lateral flow tests daily
  • Staff at Askrigg are requested to wear masks in communal areas, and not to congregate in communal areas
  • Visitors are kept to a minimum – essential visits only
  • All members of staff will wear masks on transport
  • Golden Eagles and Merlins will eat their lunch in separate areas
  • Collective worship at Askrigg will take place within classrooms, not in the hall together
  • We will open windows and ensure maximum ventilation indoors
  • We will encourage distancing where possible
  • We will encourage a rigorous hand-washing regime and wipe down surface with antibacterial wipes
  • In accordance with our remote learning policy, we will provide work for any children isolating at home

All of the above will be reviewed dynamically in response to the number of confirmed positive cases we have, and we will keep you informed as we continue to work with Public Health England.

Please be aware that guidance clearly states that children who have tested negative on PCR tests should be in school, even if their family members have tested positive. They will then be asked to do daily lateral flow tests. If you have any questions about your child’s attendance in relation to Covid cases, please contact me or Mrs Harrison directly, rather than your child’s class teacher or our admin team.
