Assessment

Our teachers are busy preparing for assessment week next week. All children from Y1 upwards will undertake assessments in maths, reading, and grammar. There may be some children who do not sit the ‘formal’ reading assessment i.e. those who are currently engaged in the Read, Write, Inc programme. This is in line with our clear philosophy that children should only be asked to independently read material that they are competently able to decode. We will share the outcomes of the assessments prior to your parent-teacher consultation after Easter so that you can ask any questions during that meeting. In addition, the outcomes of assessments will help us to shape our ‘catch-up’ provision as we identify gaps in children’s learning.

You may be aware that the Government has abandoned statutory testing (SATs) this academic year. We are still required to formally assess children but our official data will be submitted as teacher assessment. The exception to this is the Y1 phonics screening test which will still go ahead.

It’s Red Nose Day!

Today there has been great excitement as we have dressed to make our friends laugh, wearing the funniest clothes we can put together!

In our classes we have been collecting jokes building up to the giant joke-off today!
